Review – Suroan Gresik City Event by Gresik Sound System Community (PSSG)

The Sound System Parade and Product Demo event organized by the Gresik Sound System Community (PSSG) this year was held a bit differently due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The event followed health protocols, including wearing masks and maintaining physical distance. It was also held to commemorate the “Suroan” moment on October 3–4, 2020, at an open field in the Manyar District, Gresik.

The event was supported by several sponsors: SPL Audio, Rhyme Professional Audio, and JK Coustik, along with additional sponsors from various open classes within the Gresik community. The Rhyme products demoed included the RM 103 LA (10in single, 2-way) and the RM 1283 SB (18in double) subwoofer, in a 6x6 box configuration. We used three Rhyme R-4500 amplifiers to power the line array and six Rhyme R-7000 amplifiers (bridged system) to drive the subwoofers.

The event ran smoothly during the preparation day (H-1), and on the main day, visitor turnout was very enthusiastic. However, due to an overwhelming crowd, social distancing could no longer be maintained, leading the police to shut down the event. Nonetheless, the dispersal occurred after the sponsor product demos had concluded, so visitors were not too disappointed as they had already experienced the highlight products, particularly those from Rhyme.
